# About CCF — Choice-Based Credit Framework
The **Choice-Based Credit Framework (CCF)** is the new undergraduate curriculum framework introduced by the **University of Calcutta** in alignment with the **National Education Policy (NEP) 2020**.
## What is CCF?
CCF replaces the traditional annual/honours system with a **semester-based, credit-driven** structure that offers students greater flexibility in choosing their courses and disciplines.
## Key Features
- **6-semester structure** across 3 years
- **Credit-based system** — each course carries a defined number of credits
- **Multiple exit options**:
- Certificate after 2 semesters (1 year)
- Diploma after 4 semesters (2 years)
- UG Degree after 6 semesters (3 years)
- UG Degree with Research / Honours after 8 semesters (4 years)
- **Major + Minor disciplines** — students choose a major subject and one or more minors
- **Value-Added Courses (VAC)** and **Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC)** are compulsory
- **Multidisciplinary courses** allow cross-stream learning
## Benefits
- Flexibility to change majors between semesters (subject to eligibility)
- Industry-relevant skill courses embedded in the curriculum
- Research component for academically inclined students in the 4th year
- Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) enables seamless transfer between institutions
## Implementation at DCH College
DCH College has adopted the CCF curriculum as mandated by the University of Calcutta effective from the 2023–24 batch. All first-year admissions from 2025–26 onwards will be under CCF.
