# Criteria for Merit List Preparation Merit lists for undergraduate admission at DCH College are prepared strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the **University of Calcutta** and the **Government of West Bengal**. ## General Criteria - Merit is calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the **Higher Secondary (Class XII)** or equivalent examination. - Only **Best of Four** subjects (including the language paper) are considered for merit calculation, as per university norms. ## Subject-Specific Best-of-Four Rules | Programme Applied For | Subjects Considered | |---|---| | Arts Honours | Language + Best 3 from relevant subjects | | Science Honours | Language + Best 3 from science subjects | | Commerce Honours | Language + Best 3 from commerce subjects | | General (Arts/Science/Commerce) | Language + Best 3 overall | ## Category Reservations Seats are reserved as per West Bengal government rules: | Category | Reservation | |---|---| | SC (Scheduled Caste) | 22% | | ST (Scheduled Tribe) | 6% | | OBC-A | 10% | | OBC-B | 7% | | EWS | 10% | | PwD | 5% (horizontal) | ## Tie-Breaking In case of a tie in merit score, preference is given to the candidate who scored higher marks in the **subject of Honours**. ## Notes - The college strictly follows university directives; merit criteria may be revised without prior notice. - Candidates from boards other than WBCHSE must produce an equivalency certificate.
